China's notorious dangerous coal industry recorded another tragedy on Sunday. A gas explosion in the Tunlan Coal Mine near Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi province, killed at least 74 miners and injured another 114. The death toll is the worst since an accident that killed 105 miners in the same province in December 2007.
The blast occurred early Sunday morning when 436 workers were working un...

The All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) has come out with a series of recent policy goals and policies designed to help workers get through the current financial crisis and maintain social stability. But, these policies, however well intentioned, continue to reinforce the ACFTU’s misplaced identity. Meanwhile, an ACFTU vice-chairman ...

In an extraordinary move that reveals real fear of social unrest, Chinese president Hu Jintao recently held a meeting of the Central Military Commission (CMC) to urge his senior generals to ensure that the army would follow the orders of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) "under any circumstances". The CCP rule has always rested on standing army, currently 2.3 million-strong, together with the affiliated Peoples Arme...

Staggering falls in exports across Asia have shocked economic analysts and ended all claims that the global slump may be nearing its bottom. The IMF's growth forecast for Asia this year is just 2.7 percent—less than a third of the 9 percent growth rate of 2007. The prediction is a full percentage point less than during the 1997-98 Asian financial crisis.
IMA Asia analyst Richard Martin commented in the Australian: "It's...

Hello comrades, I thought this article announcing two new sections of the ICC in Asia might be interesting:
en.internationalism.org/icconline/2009/philippines-turkey
During the ICC's last congresses, we pointed out an international trend towards the emergence of new groups and individuals moving towards the positions of the Communist Left, and we highlighted both t...

The Chinese government is facing a massive unemployment crisis, far worse than in the late 1990s, when lay-offs of more than 30 million workers from state enterprises led to a wave of militant protests. This time, the growing army of unemployed mainly consists of internal migrant workers from the countryside, who have been hit hard by plunging export orders in the urban manufacturing centres and the collapse of the construction boom.

I appreciate the effort of the comrade who put this website. The proletariat in China has a vast history of class struggle before it was completely defeated in 1927, the last gasp of world proletarian offensive against capitalism. Besides, the international bourgeoisie propagandized today that in the epoch of decadent capitalism, there is...

Government claims of 6.8 percent economic growth in final quarter of 2008 based on “outdated system”
The latest shock economic news from China is that its economy may have slowed to zero growth in the final quarter of last year. Compared to the previous quarter’s growth, the method used by most major economies, growth was about one percent at an annual pace and possibly zero, according to economists cited by Associated Press. Beijing...
